Call for Papers: ECPR Joint Session Workshop Innsbruck, Austria, 7.-10 April, 2026

The University of Graz is co-organising a workshop “Using Large Language Models (LLMs) and Other AI Tools to Gather and Analyse Political Elite Networks” at the ECPR (European Consortium for Political Research) Joint Sessions, which take place in Innsbruck, 7-10 April 2026.

Particular interest is in:

  • Studies that explore new political network questions enabled by AI-tools or that revisit classical questions using such tools.
  • Analyses that either compare different data-gathering approaches to the same case or apply the same approach to different cases to test its generalisability.
  • Innovative ways to combine human and AI-inputs in the data-gathering process
  • Novel ways to ensure a) replicability, in particular for proprietary AI-tools, and b) test the reliability or external validity of networks constructed, i.e. construct ground-truth data sets
  • Methods for improving LLM effectiveness and scalability in extracting political networks

The deadline for submission of papers (abstract of 500 words) is currently 10. December 2025. Find more details here: https://www.autpol.net/workshop
